So I just ordered myself a Pentax SRT-101, complete with MC Rokkor PF 50mm f1.7 glass .

Needless to say I am SERIOUSLY EXCITED about this, and cannot wait for it to arrive because it'll be my first film SLR, and of course it's the camera that Annie Leibowitz started out on (big fan of her since I saw her show at the MCA in Sydney..!).

I chose the f1.7 lens since it's reputedly sharper than the f1.4 or f1.2 (not that I could probably get hold of an f1.2 cheaply anyway) and because they're apparently built more sturdily than the MD series. I also heard that the bokeh is a bit hexagonal on the MC compared to the MD but I think that might actually be fun to play with .

I'm also wondering what sort of film I should use (being a complete digital brat who only ever used film years ago..) but I think I will shoot a few rolls of cheap monochrome to begin with, just to get a feel for the camera before I start trying to get the best out of it.

Keep your eyes peeled for a few manual submissions soon, I will be shooting and scanning like a madman once it finally arrives! ^_^
